FAQ's Regarding Recent Policy Change on Mandatory Youth Protection Training
June 7, 2010
Recently, the Boy Scouts of America announced important changes to its Youth Protection policies. The purpose of these changes is to increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting.
Effective June 1, 2010:
Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers, regardless of their position.
New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.

Leader Training Still Available in Other Districts
If you missed our fabulous Leader Training in Mountain District, fear not. There are two more opportunities to catch this outstanding program in the other Scout districts within our council.
A Dozen More Leaders Trained
A dozen leaders spent their lunch break during Mountain District's Cub and Partner weekend at Skymont to take leader specific training. Thanks for taking the time to get trained. Every boy deserves a trained leader.
Cub Leader Training at Skymont
The Mountain District Training Team will be conducting Leader Specific Training at Skymont this week end, Saturday 18 October 08 starting 11:00 AM and lasting about three hours. You may attend one of the following; Tiger Den Leader, Cub Scout Den Leader, Cubmaster, or Committee Member. Training will be conducted in the Dining Hall.
Boy Scout Leader Training a Success!!!
Boy Scout Leader Specific Training was held in Kimball, TN, this past weekend. We had an excellent turnout with 6 leaders completing New Leader Essentials, 1 leader completing Troop Committee Challenge, and 5 leaders completing Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific training. All of the leaders were from Mountain District, with the exception of our one fellow Scouter from Ocoee District. Plenty of proof that if you couldn't make our district leader training, there are three more opportunities in the other districts.
